TYPES OF INJECTIONS OFFERED AT OFC

CORTICOSTEROID INJECTIONS

Also known as cortisone injections, these are commonly used to reduce inflammation and provide quick relief for joints, muscles, or tendons. They are frequently administered in areas such as the shoulders, knees, hips, elbows, and ankles.

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP) INJECTIONS

PRP injections promote healing for soft tissue injuries, including tendons, ligaments, muscles, and some cases of arthritis. This procedure involves drawing blood from the patient, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets, and injecting the platelet-rich plasma into the damaged tissue to encourage healing.

VISCO SUPPLEMENTATION

Ideal for managing symptoms of mild to moderate arthritis, Visco supplementation involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the knee joint. This treatment improves joint lubrication and helps reduce swelling and pain, enhancing mobility and comfort.

SPINE INJECTIONS: RELIEF FOR BACK AND NECK PAIN

Our Spine Team offers a range of diagnostic and pain-relieving injections for back and neck conditions. Most procedures can be performed under sedation for optimal comfort.

EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS (ESIs)

ESIs are effective for reducing inflammation and providing pain relief for conditions such as sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and chronic back pain. A corticosteroid and anesthetic are injected into the epidural space surrounding the spinal cord and nerve roots. This treatment is a cornerstone of nonsurgical management for lower back pain.

MEDIAL BRANCH BLOCK (MBB) AND RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (RFA)

These procedures are used together to treat spine pain originating from the facet joints or medial branch nerves:

  1. Medial Branch Block (MBB): An anesthetic is injected around the medial branch nerves and facet joints using fluoroscopic guidance. This helps identify if these nerves are the source of pain.

  2. Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): If the MBB provides significant short-term relief, RFA uses an electrical current to ablate the medial branch nerves, providing longer-lasting pain relief (typically 6-12 months).

LUMBAR FACET BLOCK INJECTION

This procedure involves injecting a combination of anesthetic and steroid medication into the facet joint capsule in the lower back. It helps reduce inflammation and relieve pain while also serving as a diagnostic tool to confirm if the facet joint is the source of discomfort.
